Answers to common questions — and a human you can email.

Is my data private?

Yes — by design. Iyas has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no trackers. Everything you enter stays in a local database on your iPhone. The only way data ever leaves the device is if you enable iCloud sync (Iyas Pro), and even then it goes only to your personal, private iCloud — which we cannot read. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I back up my data?

Three ways:

1. Export data. In Settings → Export data, the app writes everything — accounts, incomes, expenses, installments, assets, goals, investments, zakat history and settings — to a single JSON file you can save anywhere (Files, iCloud Drive, a computer). It contains your full financial data, so store the file somewhere safe.

2. iPhone backups. Iyas data is included in your normal iCloud Backup or computer backup, like any app. Restoring the backup restores your Iyas data.

3. iCloud sync (Iyas Pro). With Pro and iCloud enabled, your data is continuously synced to your private iCloud database, so reinstalling the app or adding a new device brings it back automatically.

Note that deleting the app deletes its local data, so make sure one of the above is in place first.

Why don’t the AI features (“Ask Iyas”, smart extraction) appear on my phone?

The AI features run entirely on the device using Apple Intelligence, which has hardware and settings requirements:

1. An iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or newer).
2. iOS 26 or later.
3. Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri (the on-device model may take a while to download after you enable it).

If any of these is missing, the AI features hide themselves and the rest of the app works normally. “Ask Iyas” is used through Siri — there is no in-app chat screen.

How does iCloud sync work?

iCloud sync is part of Iyas Pro. When enabled, the app stores your data in your iCloud account’s private database, and any of your devices signed into the same Apple ID syncs automatically. The data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest, and is accessible only to your Apple ID — not to the developer. If you upgrade from the free tier, fully close and relaunch the app once so sync can switch on.

How do I cancel Iyas Pro?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside the app. On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Iyas Pro → Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign into the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe, then open Iyas and use the “Restore Purchases” option on the Pro screen. Your subscription status comes from Apple, so no account or password is needed in the app itself.

Why doesn’t the app show converted totals for one of my currencies?

Iyas never invents an exchange rate. If a rate is missing for a currency pair, totals show a “rates missing” notice instead of a made-up number. Enable the optional rate refresh (or enter a rate manually) and the totals will fill in. The refresh fetches only public price data — no personal information is sent.

Is the zakat amount the final word?

No — it is an estimate computed from the assets you entered and common calculation rules. Zakat depends on your school of jurisprudence and personal circumstances, so please confirm the final amount with a qualified scholar.

Including your iOS version and a description of what you expected vs. what happened helps us fix things faster. Never include your financial data in an email — we don’t need it and we don’t want it.
